The Potted Lobster Bamburgh
Northumberland
The Potted Lobster is a busy seafood restaurant situated in the heart of popular tourist destination, Bamburgh in Northumberland. Open daily it offers a core menu featuring local Northumbrian produce as well as a packed specials board with creative seafood dishes.
Already running as a successful local seafood bistro – style restaurant since 2015 Alta AM acquired The Potted Lobster, Bamburgh in 2021. Since then the restaurant has undergone a full refurbishment and introduced another section to the layout. Working with interior designers, JoJo Bradley Interiors, a relaxing atmosphere with hints to a coastal theme was created.
The Potted Lobster has been featured in various publications and shows including Country Living, The Telegraph, The Good Food Guide, Michelin Guide, BBC’s Country Files and most popular, The Hairy Bikers Go North.
The Potted Lobster Abersoch
Abersoch, North Wales
Bought over in 2021 by Alta Asset Management, The Potted Lobster, Abersoch takes inspiration from the sister restaurant further North yet has adapted to suit the targeted audience of Abersoch. Formerly operating as Porters Cove, the current building underwent a huge transformation, introducing a new layout and upgrading the property throughout. Working with Jojo Bradley Interiors to not only create beautiful, elegant interiors, there was a big focus on creating space and optimising covers. This was successfully done by also utilising the outdoor terrace.
Since opening, The Potted Lobster has become well known by locals as well as a tourist destination whilst visiting Abersoch. The food has been awarded an AA rosette in 2022 and 2023.
The Whittling House
Northumberland
Nestled in the heart of Alnmouth, The Whittling House introduces a touch of opulence to the village, boasting 10 exquisite bedrooms, a restaurant highlighting the finest local ingredients, and a welcoming bar that beckons day trippers, overnight guests, and locals alike.
Alta AM bought over the former Saddle and Grill in 2019 and following a successful application for a change of use for the building, a full refit was carried out in 2020 to create a spacious bar and restaurant with 10 bedrooms. Alta AM worked together with Edinburgh interior designers, Amepersand to create a luxurious finish in a comfortable setting.
Although poised for launch in spring 2020, the onset of Covid-related restrictions meant a false start for 7 days in October 2020 and then opened properly from spring 2021. Since, The Whittling House has operated as a busy restaurant with rooms and has been showcased in various travel publications including British Airways High Life Magazine, The Guardian, The Daily Mail and last year was announced as The Times, Best Places to Stay in 2023.
Bertram's
Northumberland
Alta Asset Management acquired Bertram’s café and building in November 2023. From the outset, the plan was never to change Bertram’s away from what had made it so special with both locals and tourists but to add and improve its offerings, elevating the customers experience. At the beginning of March, the restaurant went through an extensive refit and introduced an evening menu to its offerings.
Mickey's Beach Café
Abersoch, North Wales
Mickey’s beach café is situated at the very end of Machroes beach, offering panoramic views of the bay and the Snowdonia mountains in the background. The beach café offers take away breakfasts and lunches as well as ice cream and hot drinks.
Alta AM has taken on the lease of Mickey’s Beach Café in Abersoch, identifying it as a fun, busy spot for locals and holiday makers to enjoy. With a popular following the aim is to enhance the Mickey’s brand in the future.
The Sunningdale

The Sunningdale, Bamburgh was acquired by Alta Asset Management in October 2024. A charming 20-room hotel located in the bustling coastal town of Bamburgh, Northumberland. The Sunningdale has long been a popular destination for visitors drawn to the area’s stunning coastline and iconic Bamburgh Castle.
Alta Asset Management has identified the potential of the Sunningdale with its prime location on the Northumberland coastline and aims to elevate The Sunningdale’s offerings, aligning it with the high standards of their other hospitality properties in the region.
